London 2012 Games Transport Readiness Testing

Client: Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA)

Overview

CJ Associates were retained to provide facilitation and consultancy services for a series of three, three-day Transport Desktop Exercises over a nine month period as a key part of the preparations for the Games, in collaboration with Parsons Brinckerhoff and Arup. These desktop exercises were attended by all organisations involved in the planning, delivery and operation of transport for athletes, Olympic Family and spectators.

Key Services

Each event involved up to 200 participants each day and tested transport resilience and contingency plans against a range of scenarios across the entire Games arena, within London and across the UK, covering zones and venues. We provided an expert team of facilitators who led the three-day exercises during which transport stakeholders’ operational and contingency plans were tested.

Our scope of work included assistance with development of the multi-modal scenario planning, selection of venues, logistics requirements, structure and timetabling of the events. The role included extensive briefings with the client, ODA, to identify objectives and goals for each desktop exercise and liaison with transport planning consultants Arup and programme managers Parsons Brinckerhoff.
