CJ Associates are supporting the principle contractor, Carillion, with planning and consents advice in constructing the new London Underground station and associated works at Paddington Station in Central London. Specific work has included the preparation and submission of planning and heritage applications to the local planning authority including Crossrail Schedule 7 consents, listed building consents and the discharge of conditions. We are also responsible for ensuring the contractor complies with the legal undertakings and assurances given during the promotion of the Crossrail Act.

The new DLR extension opened on 31 August 2011 and provides a high frequency service and four brand new and fully accessible stations - Star Lane, Abbey Road, Stratford High Street and Stratford International. We have been appointed by Centro to their consultants framework to provide Project Management Support. We hope to be providing strategic advice and assistance to Centro’s in-house project team through project development and implementation, including the Transport and Works Order process and negotiation of agreements with third parties.

CJ Associates have been appointed to identify and obtain all relevant planning, heritage and other consents as required under the Crossrail Act and asssociated heritage requirements for the construction of a new ticket hall and pedestrian tunnels on behalf of London Underground. Works involved the construction of the ticket hall directly under a Grade 2 listed building dating from 1770, with complex engineering and the need to discharge listed building conditions relating to the structural support and integrity of the existing building. CJ Associates is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Undertakings and Assurances; ensuring designs are compliant with the powers in the Crossrail Act; the production of a Consents Management Plan and a Commitments Management Plan.

Last month London Mayor Boris Johnson officially opened the first section of the new £1bn rail route in the capital, which builds on and extends the old East London Line. On 23 May the full line was opened, which runs from Dalston Junction in the north to New Cross, Crystal Palace and West Croydon in the south. By 2011 it will be extended to Highbury & Islington and by 2012 the remaining link connecting the East London Line to Network Rail lines at Queen’s Road Peckham will complete the inner London orbital railway.

Farringdon station is being transformed into one of London’s best connected stations as part of the Thameslink programme and Crossrail scheme. The two major cross-London routes will meet at Farringdon. A £250m investment will see longer platforms, the refurbishment of the existing London Underground station building, construction of a new station concourse building on Turnmill Street and the construction of a new integrated ticket hall on Cowcross Street for Network Rail and Crossrail passengers.

As Consents Manager for Canary Wharf Contractors Limited, CJ Associates were responsible for producing a complete schedule of all consents necessary to facilitate construction of the Canary Wharf Crossrail Station, managing and ensuring that all consents were obtained in accordance with the construction programme. The new station is being built in the North Dock between Canary Wharf and North Quay and when complete will be one of the largest on the Crossrail network. It will be the first Crossrail station to be built and includes plans for retail space and a roof-top park.

CJ Associates are providing project and commercial management with associated support services for Centro, who are working on several projects that will extend and enhance the Midland Metro. The West Midlands region has allocated funding and Centro have secured "Programme Entry" level status from the Department of Transport (DfT).
Our services relate to the development of a business case for an extension into Wolverhampton that will integrate the bus and railway stations and submission of the Bbusiness case for Conditional Approval from the DfT for the procurement of new trams to increase capacity on the existing network with associated depot enhancements and an extension through Birmingham City Centre to interface with the proposed New Street ‘Gateway’ railway station. Specific roles include Project and Programme Management, Commercial Management (including risk management and procurement documentation).

King’s Cross St Pancras Underground Station Redevelopment-Phase 2 has won the ICE Infrastructure Award. CJ Associates acted as planning & Consents Co-ordinators on the project, alongside engineers Arup and architect Allies and Morrison.
The works to construct the major new ticket hall and pedestrian tunnels at one of the busiest stations on the London Underground network were completed ahead of schedule in November 2009. The finished ticket hall has delivered brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, which have doubled the capacity of the station, reduced congestion and improved accessibility.
